Wedding Décor Trend – Pineapples

It’s summer, and there has been a new tropical wedding trend sweeping Instagram and Pinterest – pineapples.  With the weather in the UK somewhat unpredictable this year, it seems a cute way to make your wedding that little bit more exotic.

I’ve spotted them subtly nestled among foliage, boldly standing out between over decorated contrasting forests, and also noticed a few nods to the trend in the form pretty charms on necklaces.

At first I thought I was imagining things, and that it was just me developing my own fascination with the prickly fruits as I noticed more and more pop up everywhere….!  However, when I spotted them styled on wedding tables at the Ace Hotel Wedding Showcase (click here to view post), and at the Oliver Bonas season preview press event, and at the QVC A/W press day, I knew it needed a blog post of its own!

Personally, I love pineapples!  They are just so fun!  Abstract shape, bold colours, and the taste of holidays; what’s not to love?  I’ve seen them done in so many ways, their unconventional shape just seems utterly versatile and such a cool point of interest.  Be it real ones as incredible centrepieces from as little as 75p per piece via your local supermarket, or full on pineapple styling via light up ornaments or gold favours.  They are a strong enough feature that you don’t necessarily need to build a theme around them, but a slice of pineapple on the side of your welcome drinks would be a nice touch to pull it all together.

Pineapples would obviously work well for a summer wedding or an exotic destination wedding, but it would also be such a cool theme for a homecoming party for anyone running away somewhere warm to elope (style it as a tribute to your ceremony if you were lucky enough to escape to somewhere tropical!).

Pineapples can be used to hint at a theme, or just to liven up your table settings, but these tropical fruits are proving to be super fashionable at the moment – adapt your own way to inject some instant fun.
