Paris – Romantic Photo Opportunities

Paris is only as romantic as you want it be, but there are lots of opportunities in Paris to create the perfect picture and radiate the romantic side of Paris in the background. 

I am slightly biased, having now fallen in love with Paris all over again since I got engaged there last year, but there are many sides to the city to explore.  I’ve had to travel to Paris in the past with work for fashion week, and after having to work 12 hour days in either extreme heat or extreme cold (the showrooms I used to work in were in horrendously old buildings), I lost any excitement of going to Paris for fun. 

Explore my recommendations guaranteed to make you fall in love; either romantically or with Paris itself.  These are my top locations for the perfect romantic Instagram shot:  

1.    View from the Eiffel Tower

You have to queue, and pay, to get up to the top of the Eiffel Tower so make it worth your while; get an early start and make your photo opp a little easier.  The photos are not as impactful as some of the others below, because obviously you can’t get a view of the Eiffel Tower when you are up the Eiffel Tower, but use this as your grand welcome to Paris with spectacular views of the city rolling behind you.

2.    Champ de Mars Park

This is a relaxed flat open green area popular with Parisians to picnic, just a few minutes’ walk from the Eiffel Tower.  There’s lots of space and different angles available to get that perfect shot of the Eiffel Tower.  The closest place to get a proper view with the tower in the background, but the furthest away to not feel so silly practising poses with your beau.

3.    Jardin des Tuileries

These gardens are simple but very elegant.  They are empty in the evening and there are lots of seating options dotted around the gardens in front of the Louvre to take it all in.  If the view of the Louvre isn’t enough for you, wait until the sun sets as there’s a lovely relaxed view of the Eiffel Tower from here when it lights up with sparkly lights at night (the Eiffel Tower sparkles with golden lights for 5 minutes on the hour, every hour, every evening).

4.    Venus de Milo in The Louvre – The Greek Goddess of Love 

What better verification for your relationship status than a photo beside the Greek goddess of love?  I love visiting different galleries when on holiday, but The Louvre is the best for art history in the world in my opinion, and you’ll get Aphrodite much to yourself since the crowds largely favour The Mona Lisa.

5.    The Padlock Bridge (Pont de l'Archevêché)

This is as much of a ‘must do’ in Paris as the Eiffel Tower, especially since part of the fencing was removed recently as the sheer weight of the padlocks was causing the bridge to collapse!  Go quick and make your mark, just remember to order a decent padlock from Amazon before you go.  (I forgot and bought these cheap ones last minute, little did I know my (now) husband was going to propose that weekend, or else I would have got better ones!!)

6.    View from the Arab World Institute

This museum celebrates Arab culture and art and is absolutely fascinating.  Not least because of the striking architecture of the building.  It is absolutely stunning, but does look somewhat out of place beside its Renaissance and Medieval neighbours of the Padlock Bridge and the Notre-Dame, respectively.  Head up to the rooftop terrace on the tenth floor for some intimate selfies – the rooftop isn’t that well known and the terrace is huge, meaning you can take your time.  The café also regularly features in best museum café lists, and I can vouch that the chai tea is among the best I’ve had.
