Vintage Tea Party Inspiration

This is a styled shoot that was submitted to me for publication and I just couldn’t resist!  I thought it would be great inspo for a bridal shower or hen party, as well as for a wedding.

Vintage is a trend that is still so popular, but this shoot gives off a French renaissance vibe too due to the location, period décor and finer details.  Although there is a classical vintage look, there are some elements that make it more stylised and contemporary – the font used for the stationery and the intricate cupcake cases for example.  These small touches go a long way to romanticise the theme and make it seem more modern, and avoids any notions of ‘granny chic’ – another kind of ‘vintage’ that is so often rolled out these days.

The flowers are the perfect pastel mix, yet are still very bright.  There is no set colour scheme, but the tones are very soft aside from some subtle ruby and plum colours dotted here and there which stops the table from looking too twee.  The crockery is decorated and slightly mismatched but the glassware, centrepieces and vases are kept simple and more modern as a balance.  The gold details on the crockery elevate the look and make it seem a bit more luxe.  Macarons add to the French vibe and give an air of sophistication.

The brides dress is the height of elegance and uses a simple jacquard print with a Jackie O type neckline – so chic.

I can imagine this as a very chic bridal party, or if I were to get married again (can you imagine!) this is what I would want my morning of the wedding to look like….!  Let them eat cake, I would say!
