Paris Wedding Inspiration

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I’ve put together a Paris mood board for some wedding inspiration.  Mood boards can really help to convey your vision for your big day to your suppliers, even if it just helps to give them an idea of what you don’t want.  This theme is also very easily adaptable to a hen party or bridal shower.

Let this mood board sweep you away with soft hues, a pretty palette and stylish décor.  I have loosely based this mood board around the Pantone colours of the year, rose quartz and serenity, which are super stylish and on trend for any nuptials this year.

I got engaged in Paris last year, so I got a little carried away with this one!  Of course, now I see the city of love through rose tinted glasses, or rose quartz tinted glasses in this case, but I never get bored of Parisian style.

This theme is romantic and decorative, without being too fussy.  Inspiration comes from the art nouveau movement and the baroque period of art and architecture.  Pretty, but not all pink.  Soft, but not silk.  Think Chanel rather than Moulin Rouge.

Suggestion Through Words

The simple ‘Monsieur’ and ‘Madame’ chair plaques for the bride and groom at the top table transform the theme instantly from pretty to Parisian – but consider your font wisely.  The Paris passport cover would be a nice touch for invitations, or simply as an order of the day.  There are also lots of ideas to explore for table names, which are easy to help incorporate a Parisian theme without having to spend too much money (most venues will print these for you as part of your package).

Place Settings

Place settings are an easy way to convey your theme and will inject a bit more bravado and life into your day; anything appears stronger when multiplied.  A single decoration piece put on your cake table could go unnoticed, but one per person at every table as a place setting will get people talking.

Texture

Lace works wonderfully well with any art nouveau theme and seems very French to me in general, but it needn’t be your dress.  Consider lace table cloths, even if only for your cake table, lace chair covers or napkins wrapped in lace off cuttings – EBay is great for vintage lace, but likewise you can find a reel of lace trimming in any good haberdashery for only a few pounds.  The mood board also shows lace shoes and a lace style pattern imprinted on the top tier of the cake.

Food

Save yourself extra décor costs or DIY time and use food to express your theme, whether it be to directly link your ideas to something more coherent, or to tie in with the colour of your bridesmaids’ dresses.   Macarons are ideal to introduce some elegance to your cake table, and can either work as perfectly portioned individual pieces of wedding cake, or as wedding favours (not to mention they are highly Instagram-able!).  Just drop into any Ladurée store for extra Parisian inspiration.
