Grammy Gowns

The cooler younger sister of the Oscars, the 58th annual Grammy awards in LA on Monday night was a thoroughly contemporary affair.  Enough about Taylor and Kanye, here’s my pick of the most inspiring dresses of the night:

The Show Stoppers

Left:  Beyoncé presented the Grammy for Record of the Year wearing a wedding gown by Inbal Dror.  Yes, only Beyoncé could wear an actual WEDDING DRESS to the Grammys.  I love the cuffs and collar on this dress, and the splits were a running theme throughout the evening.  Not a dress you could wear to church though! 
 
Right:  Chrissy Teigen stunned in a perfectly fitted bump-hugging Yousef Al-Jasmi dress, which looked nothing short of regal.  Her bejewelled cape balanced her silhouette, although it’s fair to say her bump stole the show.  She accessorised with Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira jewels.  This dress would be perfect for a sophisticated city wedding. 

The Unconventional

Left:  Faith Evans wore a custom dress by a designer known only as @ebonybrownstyle on Instagram (as tagged by Faith herself before she left for the Grammys).  This dress screams awards ceremony, but the fur stole made it look quite cheap and tacky and the monochrome accessories didn't really work.  Satin and fur are a no-go unless you’re Joan Collins. 
 
Right:  Kaley Cuoco looked super cute in a sparkly playsuit by Naeem Khan, she had the fun and flirty look down to a tee here.  She accessorised with stacked H.Stern rings.  How perfect would this be for a hen party or bridal shower? 

The Modern

Ellie Goulding wowed in a simple Stella McCartney dress and oozed Hollywood glamour.  The back detail and the train on this dress really lifted her whole look, and the blush hue suited her skin tone perfectly.  I could see this dress well placed at an exotic wedding on a warm beach somewhere.
