Rita Colson's Debut Bridal Collection

Just a stone's throw off the Strand, and round the corner from The Savoy, the RSA House recently hosted a beautiful evening for the launch of Rita Colson’s new bridal range produced by Nova Reid of Nu Bride - and I was lucky enough to be on the f 'row.   

The whole event was curated to feel modern, bright and feminine and I have to say the production was as good as the gowns.  Every detail was meticulously thought out, from the setting to the opera introduction, to the immersive dance - then, of course, the bridal collection.  Rita Colson is known for her ethical evening wear and designs for many high profile clients, however, this was the first presentation of her debut bridal collection.

Rita has developed a contemporary and effortless style that perfectly suits the modern bride. Inspired by her own love of art, music and dance, she created a range of fashion forward pieces that would work beautifully for all types of weddings. The Rita Colson 2017 Collection, is designed 'for the style savvy bride celebrating the nostalgia of tradition whilst embracing creativity and style'.  Although not all to my taste, I loved the trouser suit and the boundaries that Rita has pushed with this collection. 

Guests to the show were able to see the new collection up close and experience Rita’s main style ethos: 'the juxtaposition of tradition with a modern twist'. The Tavern Room at RSA House was transformed into an inspirational white on white catwalk. The Georgian style of the building was perfectly complemented by extravagant floral displays, candles and traditional white seating.  Spring flowers were used with a strict pale colour palette; ranunculus, hellebores, 'White O'Hara' and 'Patience' garden roses were all dotted in the bouquets as well as the seating and trailing fireplace floral displays. The whole effect was extremely elegant and fresh, and somewhat elevated the catwalk. 

Rita designed the collection whilst always keeping her muse in mind - a modern and independent woman who invests in pieces rather than focussing on trends.  I'd like to think she was thinking of me, for some of it...!  

When talking about her designs Rita said “My debut collection is inspired by my love of bold silhouettes, vintage, and playful textures. A collection that celebrates the craftsmanship of intricate beading, applique of 3D flowers over lace cleverly styled and put together”.

The Rita Colson 2017 Bridal Collection is available directly from Rita Colson as both a made-to-measure and customisable semi-bespoke service. In addition, Rita also offers a fully bespoke service.

Rita’s beliefs and ethos could clearly be seen throughout the whole event, and, by working alongside Nova Reid, a really beautifully cohesive evening was enjoyed by all - cocktails and canapes included!
