Partner Cocktails for your Wedding

It’s easy to forget the little details when you’re so busy doing all the big details!  A wedding cocktail is an easy way to personalise your day, with minimum effort from you!  Simply brief the bar beforehand and tweak the name to suit you!  Usually your bar or caterer will do a deal with you for bulk buys (e.g. to include 100 x of the same cocktail).  Also consider swaps to unbranded spirits or juice, no one will notice in cocktails and you’ll save a fortune.

Here are a few of my favourite cocktails suited to different wedding types:

Wedding Type:  City
Partner Cocktail: Espresso Martini
Ingredients:  Vodka, Kahlua, Sugar Syrup and Chilled Espresso + Coffee Beans to garnish.
Why:  Ultra chic, guaranteed to give your guests a buzz; all night dancing + no falling asleep on the night bus!

Wedding Type:  Garden Party
Partner Cocktail:  Long Island Iced Tea
Ingredients:  Vodka, Rum, Tequila, Gin, Triple Sec, Cola + Cherries to garnish.
Why:  Refreshing on a hot summers day… yet potent!

Wedding Type:  Boho/Hipster
Partner Cocktail:  Blueberry Mojito
(below left)
Ingredients:  White Rum, Sugar, Lime Juice, Soda, Mint, Blueberries.
Why:  Fresh and punchy with added antioxidants!  Mojitos never go out of fashion but this is a modern twist.

Wedding Type:  Black Tie
Partner Cocktail:  Strawberry, Lemon and Basil Mimosa
Ingredients:  Champagne, Soda, Honey, Frozen Strawberries, Lemons, Basil Leaves.
Why:  The ultimate champagne cocktail, a modern twist on an old favourite.

Wedding Type:  Spring
Partner Cocktail:  Peach Bellini
Ingredients:  Prosecco, Tinned Peach Slices in Fruit Juice.
Why Classy with hints of summer coming.  Switch up the fruit combo to suit your colour scheme.

Wedding Type:  Summer
Partner Cocktail:  Ginger Pimms
Ingredients:  Pimms, Ginger Beer, Lemon, Cucumber, Apple, Mint.
Why:  Super simple classically British summer cocktail.

Wedding Type:  Autumn
Partner Cocktail:  Whiskey Sour
Ingredients:  Bourbon, Lemon Juice, Sugar, Egg White, + Cherries and Oranges to garnish.
Why:  The egg white gives this drink gravitas, but the lemon keeps it sharp.

Wedding Type:  Winter
Partner Cocktail:  Winter Daiquiri
Ingredients:  Rum, Clementine Juice, Maple Syrup, + Cinnamon Stick to garnish.
Why:  Something different for winter – mulled wine has been done to death.

Wedding Type:  Teetotal
Partner Cocktail:  Elderflower Lemonade   (below right)
Ingredients:  Lemons, Sugar, Elderflower Cordial, Frozen Berries, Sparkling Water, + Edible Flowers to garnish.
Why:  Looks and tastes like a cocktail, and super tasty.

Don’t be afraid to try your own variations to suit your tastes and budget!

-But be sure to have a night of tasting with your fiancé to try them out!

Also don't be swayed too heavily by a theme if you’re not too sure about it, it's easy to make a cocktail wintery by sticking a cinnamon stick in it, or likewise summery by adding a few berries here and there.
